RM of Porcupine’s story
The Rural Municipality of Porcupine No. 395 became an incorporated rural municipality on February 28, 1944. It lies in the northeast-central part of Saskatchewan.
Within its boundaries are the town of Porcupine Plain, where the RM office is located, and the village of Weekes. The organized hamlet of Prairie River is also here, along with the localities of Dillabough and Somme. Carragana was once a village but was dissolved on March 25, 1998.
Today the RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the first Thursday of each month. Highways 23, 38 and 677 serve the area.
